I'm also waiting for another book due in July - the next Revelation Space novel from Alastair Reynolds.

These are set in a consistent universe where colonies have developed far away from Earth for enough time to have completely separate cultures with their own languages which have developed from those of the original colonists. I like these sorts of "realistic" science fiction novels with a basis in actual science but more "well-rounded" with such a detailed cultural backdrop - similar attention to detail can be found in Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy. Anyway, there we go.
